Tonka Maleković & Sophia Freidhoff

Culture Moves Europe Mobility Grant

Artists and researchers Tonka Maleković and Sophia Freidhoff spent three weeks in Berlin for a residency at Korski Berlin e.V., where they expanded their project “Compositions of Flow”. The duo’s work explores migration, identity, and the effects of displacement in the Danube region and Berlin’s dynamic cultural landscape. Their interdisciplinary approach blends art, social research, and public engagement to explore issues of brain drain, integration, and borders. With support from Korsi Berlin e.V., Tonka and Sophia connected with Berlin-based organizations and researchers focused on migration and integration, while drawing inspiration from the city’s diverse migrant communities and sites.

Their residency culminated in a public presentation at Halfsister Berlin, Torgauer Straße 1, with screenings, talks and new media highlighting past and future phases of their project. The residency underlined Berlin’s role as a hub for intercultural dialogue and creative collaboration, and provided important groundwork for the next stages of Compositions of Flow.

The residency was supported by the Goethe-Institut Brussels / Culture Moves Europe Individual Mobility Grant.
